Soteria Asbestos' Managing Director (MD), Suzanne Smith, has been shortlisted for the East Midlands Enterprising Business Woman of the Year award.
The nomination follows an amazing first two years for the Retford business; winning Best New Business at the Gainsborough Business Awards and Ms Smith winning Business Person of the Year at the Gainsborough Business Awards and Enterprising New Business Woman at the East Midlands Chamber Enterprising Women Awards.
In addition, Ms Smith was also selected as a finalist from over 500 nominations at the Nottingham Post Women in Business Awards and was a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year at the East Midlands Chamber Awards.
She said: "I am delighted to be recognised for my hard work and am honoured to be selected as a finalist at such prestigious awards. The caliber of the other finalists is outstanding and being ranked alongside established and multi-million-pound company owners so early in my business journey is truly amazing.
"After my Grandad died from an asbestos related disease, I became dedicated to raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos and strive to protect workers from being exposed to the deadly fibre."
Soteria Asbestos specialises in asbestos training and consultancy and operate nationally. Courses include Asbestos Awareness, Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos and Duty to Manage Asbestos.
Ms Smith continued: "I'm looking forward to the award ceremony next month and would like to thank the East Midlands Chamber for the opportunity. I would also like to thank all sponsors of the awards without whom the awards would not be possible."
Following the success of Soteria Asbestos, Ms Smith and her business partner, Peter Cassettari, have recently launched Sherwood Knowledge Limited. This new venture will offer training courses from the heart of Nottinghamshire that are open to the public and businesses. Subjects range from health and safety to business skills and will be held at venues across North Nottinghamshire.
