Morgan Sindall is continuing work on a £3.1 million police station refurbishment scheme in Norfolk.
The contractor is redeveloping Kings Lynn Police Station on behalf of The Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk.
The three-phase scheme involves demolishing the rear part of the building to install a two-storey temporary accommodation unit for 150 staff at the station.
Work will then start on building an atrium at the rear of the building, forming a new staff entrance. Morgan Sindall will also develop a new staircase, storage facilities, a new lift shaft and internal refurbishment works.
As part of the project, students and lecturers from the College of West Anglia (CWA) were taken on a special visit of the site to show different aspects of construction.
Saul Humphrey, managing director of Morgan Sindall's East Anglia region, said: "Site visits like this can help to inspire and encourage young people and show them the varied and exciting career prospects that construction has to offer. We're committed to doing what we can to nurture the next generation and help to plug the skills gap facing the industry."
Jane Burton, Course Director at CWA, said: "This is quite an event for us! This sort of visit is extremely important as all our students are from different backgrounds.
"It's a great opportunity to see different aspects of construction and today we've seen from bid, through to build. Being able to visit a complex project like this gives the students exposure to challenges they simply wouldn't see on a new build."
