Unlocking houses are the most commonly used locksmith services in the UK, nowadays.

There are some main tips, that can reduce the risks of house lockout. Knowing these simple steps and taking preventative measures can help many homeowners to avoid such unpleasant and irritating scenarios, especially when it's already planned to build 350 new homes in London.

Change old keys or locks

One of the main reasons why a lot of people experience lockouts, is their obsolete keys or locks. Once you notice that your key is damaged or malfunctioning, replace it with a new one. If your key is in a good condition, but your house lock has some problems, you need to repair or change it, before a lockout happens. Moreover, damaged or old locks may also be opened easily by criminals.

Get a spare key

Having an extra set of keys may help you in case of a lockout. It's advisable to give a spare key to your trusted neighbour or a close friend. But remember, that giving your house key to someone is only a good idea when you know the person well.

Install smart locks

A smart lock can be unlocked without using a key. There are many types of such locks, including fingerprint or keypad combination locks. Furthermore, some smart locks can operate via using your smartphone. Having a smart lock on your house door will fully eliminate the need of a key, whilst keeping your home secure.
