UK Property Supply Increases For Third Consecutive Month

New figures have revealed property supply in the UK has risen for the third month in a row.

According to the latest Property Supply Index from HouseSimple.com, property listings across the country were up 3.7% in March compared with February.

Property listings surged by more than three quarters (76%) of towns and cities in March. Two Scottish towns, Stirling and Dundee, experienced the biggest rises in supply (87.8% and 70.9% respectively). Guildford in the South East saw a 51.8% increase, while Salford in the North West experienced a 45.5% boost to new listings.


However, in London the number of new property listing fell 0.3% between February and March. Lewisham and Hounslow experienced the steepest drop off in property supply, with new listings falling 41.4% and 40% respectively.

Alex Gosling, Chief Executive Officer of HouseSimple.com, said: "Although new listings were up in March, we'd have hoped to see more sellers, particularly in London, putting their homes on the market as we enter the Spring's peak property selling season.

"We need a supply boost in April, because the demand from buyers remains strong and thanks to the continued competitive mortgage deals still on offer, they are more than committed to purchasing."
