BAM Construction has been selected to help deliver a new £50 million development at Cardiff University.

The company has been named as preferred bidder to carry out pre-construction services for the Centre for Student Life scheme.

The facility will act as a central hub for student support services, as well as offering flexible social learning spaces and a modern 550-seat lecture theatre.

Designed by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, the development forms part of the University's £600m campus upgrade programme.

Professor Amanda Coffey, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Experience and Academic Standards, said: "We welcome the appointment of BAM and look forward to working with them to create an outstanding facility that will benefit students, staff and the city of Cardiff.

"The Centre is part of an ongoing £600m investment in our campus, including £260m to provide world leading facilities for our students."

Craig Allen, Construction Director for BAM, said: "Our appointment reflects the strength of the relationship we forged with Cardiff University working with them on the Hadyn Ellis and CUBRIC (Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre) buildings."
