SES Engineering Services has won a £5 million contract to help deliver a new headquarters (HQ) for Lancashire Constabulary's West Division in Blackpool.
The company will work alongside Willmott Dixon to provide full mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for the new three-storey facility on Clifton Road. The project is scheduled for completion in 2018.
Working to BIM (Building Information Modelling) Level 2, SES will be responsible for installing a full range of building services including lighting, photovoltaic systems, building management systems, power distribution as well as rainwater drainage systems. The energy efficient building has been designed to meet a BREEAM ‘Very Good' rating.
The 8,500sqm building will provide Lancashire Constabulary with new contemporary office space, a 42-cell custody suite and a base for local neighbourhood policing and immediate response teams, as well as an investigations hub. It will also be home to a range of specialist teams serving the Fylde coast, Lancaster and Morecambe areas.
SES will work alongside project manager Pick Everard on the scheme, as well as architect, structural and MEP consultant, McBains Cooper.
SES' Business Director North, Steve Joyce said: "I am delighted to have this further opportunity of working in partnership with Willmott Dixon on behalf of Lancashire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner, on a landmark building for the force which will also benefit the local area.
"This project provides us with an excellent opportunity to build on our growing expertise in the blue light sector and the excellent working relationship we have developed with the main contractor, and the rest of the project team. To overcome some of the challenges we face when working on a facility of this type, our package of extensive MEP services for the building will be designed to meet stringent guidelines as set out by the Home Office."
Speaking about working in partnership with SES, Willmott Dixon's Operations Manager, Richard Wright added: "Construction work is progressing well with the structure nearing completion and SES will shortly be joining us to commence the MEP works. Thanks to the excellent working relationship the project team has forged, I'm extremely confident that work on the building will progress smoothly ready for completion in 2018."
