A bespoke, contemporary house in Lincolnshire has been recognised as one of the year's best homes in the UK.
Barrow House at Hatcliffe won 'Best Individual New Home' at the 2019 LABC Building Excellence Awards.
Built by local firm Belvin Construction and designed by ID Architects, the development is set within the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The partially subterranean Barrow House emulates a modern barn and was constructed using innovative construction techniques and finished with a range of high quality finishes and detailing. The house adopts a huge range of sustainable features such as a ground source heat pump and a roof top wildflower meadow.
It looks out onto an ancient monument called 'the Barrow' and was built using a concrete frame with durable cladding which is designed to rust as it's exposed to the elements. The home features 18 metre long sliding doors, offering impressive views over the natural landscape.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards focus on the very best in technical innovation and construction quality, helping to raise the level of construction quality across England and Wales.
The panel of expert judges said: "The immaculate detailing and rigorous environmental strategy of this uncompromisingly modern home impressed the judges - and its distinctiveness in appearance and performance made it a worthy and stand-out winner."
Barrow House was one of 15 winning projects, chosen by a panel of construction industry experts. Other winning projects include Sherwood Forest RSPB Visitor Centre, the SS Great Britain in Bristol and Coal Drops Yard in King's Cross.
Steve Turner, Managing Director of Belvin Construction said: "This was an amazing project to be part of and we couldn't be more proud of our work. It's a very modern building, but I think the design and the materials suit the environment perfectly. It was also really good to work with great architects and contractors which are all based in the area; this project has helped to put Lincolnshire on the map and proved once again what we're all capable of."
