Local children in Wandsworth have lent their art skills to the Wates team behind the Shuttleworth Road housing development.
Wates and Wandsworth Council are working together to deliver 92 new affordable homes in the borough across two development sites at Shuttleworth Road and Stag House.
The children from Fledglings Kindergarten, opposite the Shuttleworth Road site, created pictures after watching construction works each day. These were then transposed onto hoarding panels. Drawings include builders wearing hard hats, machinery and diggers.
Wates Residential was appointed to deliver the Shuttleworth Road development in July 2019. The work forms part of the council's wider Winstanley and York Road Estates regeneration programme, to increase the number of affordable homes available for local people.
This high quality development, which will meet all the latest quality, energy and safety standards, will include the construction of 71 homes for social rent, as well as new car parking facilities and landscaping.
Paul Nicholls, Managing Director for Wates Residential, said: "After seeing how excited the children were about work on the Shuttleworth Road site, we invited them to get involved.
"Wates Residential believes that everyone deserves a great place to live and is committed to delivering more than just homes in Wandsworth. Hopefully our work with Fledglings Kindergarten will help to inspire the next generation to consider a career in construction!"
Mrs Sandra Prendergast, Manager from Fledglings Kindergarten, commented:
"The children were so excited to draw pictures of the site and have them displayed on the hoarding, especially as some of their parents work within the construction industry. After the unveiling they spoke about it all day and were so delighted with the hard hats and vests that you [Wates Residential] donated too. Thank you!"
