VolkerWessels UK has been recognised with a couple of accolades at the recent 2019 CN Talent Awards.

The firm and its engineering business, VolkerStevin, both secured an award at the recent ceremony.

Now in its fourth year, the CN Talent Awards highlight businesses, teams and individuals that have made an extra step in making a difference to improve the construction industry's reputation, professionalism and practices.

In recognition of their recent efforts to embrace digital culture, VolkerWessels UK was awarded Digital Team of the Year. This comes as the company continues to undergo a period of digital transformation and growth. A considerable effort has been made by the team to use the latest technology in order to help streamline business performance, and promote a better work life balance for all employees.

Simon White, chief digital officer, said: "It is great that our people based approach to digital transformation has been recognised by the industry and this award is for everyone who has been involved in our journey to date. We have come a very long way in the last 12 months and in 2020 I am looking forward to us accelerating even faster, push the boundaries and create even more time for us to think, change and innovate."

VolkerStevin also collected the award for the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year. The award was presented to VolkerStevin for demonstrating how their innovative safety and behaviour change programme, Safety Ripple, has improved staff health, safety and wellbeing. The initiative has contributed to a positive workplace environment by putting people at the heart of the decision making.

Speaking about the awards, Constructions News editor Lem Bingley said: "These awards recognise those outstanding individuals and organisations that are striving to make construction a better sector for everyone. Whether promoting physical and mental health, improving diversity and inclusion, closing unfair pay gaps, or becoming more socially responsible across the board, our winners are blazing trails that many others will follow. We salute our winners tonight and thank them for their insight and leadership."
