ENGIE has won two prizes at the recent Premises & Facilities Management Awards (PFM) Awards 2019 in London.
The firm, in partnership with regeneration business Peel L&P, was named the winner in the Partners in Energy Management category, while energy engineer Phil Harris also claimed Team Member of the Year 2019.
The Partners in Energy Management award recognised the strong partnership between ENGIE and Peel L&P which has delivered major energy and carbon reduction savings across the Peel estate.
ENGIE and Peel L&P have been working together for nearly 30 years, during which time ENGIE have brought their technical expertise to play a key role in Peel's sustainability initiatives. In 2011 ENGIE and Peel L&P began an energy management programme to help reduce costs and carbon emissions.
Building on the initial energy management programme, the two companies developed this further to attain ISO 50001 certification, the ISO standard for energy management. Though this accreditation, ENGIE have hit an annual target of reducing Peel's activity related energy or greenhouse gas emissions by 3%. This target has been met four years in a row. In 2015, with ENGIE's support Peel became the first major UK property group to achieve ISO 50001 certification and was re-certified in 2018.
The successful partnership between ENGIE and Peel L&P clearly demonstrates a shared commitment to sustainability, through diverse initiatives that range from cutting costs and carbon footprint to minimising tailpipe emissions. The partnership has played a vital role in these achievements with both parties working together to deliver shared objectives that achieve maximum results.
ENGIE's Phil Harris has been instrumental in achieving these results and was named winner of the PFM Team Member Award. Having worked with Peel L&P since 2012, supporting them with their energy reduction goals, Phil has been responsible for identifying and implementing a number of energy reducing technologies and strategies across the Peel estate, helping reduce the energy use and carbon footprint of the customer's buildings. He was also recently made an energy champion of the Peel L&P portfolio.
John Jago, Chief Operating Officer, Business Energy & Services at ENGIE commented: "We are delighted to win these awards from PFM. The achievements recognised though our partnership with Peel L&P demonstrate ENGIE's ability to understand the needs and priorities of our customers. We are committed to partnering with them to deliver optimum results and to enable their transition to a low carbon future."
