Leading UK housebuilder Lovell Homes has created a brand new position in its North West team.
The role of social value manager will help boost the 'social value' and positive impact around the firm's developments and marks a growing trend within the construction industry. It will see an individual engage with schools and colleges, supporting apprentices and trainees and getting involved with community projects across the region.
Experienced Lovell Homes employee Paul Woby, who joined the firm over 18 years ago, has been appointed to take on the newly created position.
"As builders, we have a huge impact on a town or village when we arrive and so we want that experience to be as positive as possible for the residents. That's why this role will be so vital as we not only want to support existing community projects but also help improve the surrounding area by protecting wildlife and improving communal facilities," Paul said.
"My background is in the construction trade, as I spent almost 20 years working my way up to project manager, however before my promotion I was a trainee co-ordinator. This was incredibly rewarding and the perfect stepping stone into becoming the social value manager. As trainee co-ordinator I visited the local communities and got to know the residents, so the social value role is a natural next step.
"I'll be working closely with the wider Lovell team to further engage and forge close links with our clients, customers and local communities, particularly schools and colleges. It's incredibly rewarding to build lasting partnerships so I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in and building on my experience and connections to date."
Revealing more about the reason behind the new position, Lee Sale, managing director at Lovell Homes North West, added: "We created the social value manager role in order to have a dedicated person developing meaningful relationships at all our developments across the region. Engaging the local community is an incredibly important part of all our schemes as we not only want residents, school children and professionals on board during the build phase but we also want our homebuyers to feel part of the community when they move in.
"We're delighted to announce Paul's promotion as he's a brilliant and valued member of the team. With 18 years at Lovell and more than 30 in the construction industry he really is the perfect fit for the job."
