Clarion Housing Group has signed a £40 million agreement with Vistry Partnerships, part of the Vistry Group, to increase the number of homes in the new town of Sherford in Plymouth.
Vistry Partnerships is building 3,500 homes in Sherford, of which 1,500 are being built in partnership with Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, as part of a joint venture formed in 2018. The newly signed agreement will see a further 211 new homes made available for social and affordable rent as well as shared ownership through Clarion Housing, increasing the affordable housing provision in the new town.
Richard Cook, Group Director of Development at Clarion Housing Group, said: "The signing of this new agreement marks a milestone in our joint venture with Vistry Partnerships and we’re delighted to be working together to deliver more affordable homes in the new town of Sherford.
"Alongside our multimillion pound regeneration of Barne Barton, this scheme underlines our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable and sustainable homes for the people of Plymouth and the surrounding areas. We’re excited to see plans for Sherford come to life, creating a vibrant community with homes of different tenures to meet the needs of local people."
Kathryn Pennington, Vistry Partnerships, Regional Development Director, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Clarion on this inspiring project in the South West. A genuine partnership has been formed, working together to create a sustainable community and beautifully designed homes with a more balanced mixed tenure offering.
"Our partnering approach with Clarion is centred on a shared objective and passion to deliver great places to live with placemaking at its heart. This new legacy community will make a significant contribution to high-quality affordable homes for local people."
