Construction firm Kier has teamed up with Operam Academy to provide online training to around 400 colleagues on the latest international standards and best practice for information management using building information modelling (BIM).
As part of Kier's digital by default approach to projects, colleagues across the Group are taking part in the training which is an e-learning syllabus tailored by role. The courses have tests throughout and for those learners who complete the full syllabus, the Academy awards participants with an Information Management Practitioner certificate and digital badge.
Kier has partnered with Operam Academy because of its industry leading approach to information management, having trained thousands of industry professionals in countries across the world.
All Kier colleagues will be trained by the end of this year.
Andy Boutle, head of BIM at Kier Construction, said: "We are committed to fostering a first-class data and digitally enabled environment at Kier and that means we will have, and will continue, to invest in our people.
"We tailored the rollout of the training package to provide colleagues with the courses most relevant to their function or role, based around the ISO 19650 standards and best practice. This is vital as part of the digital revolution taking place within the construction industry, with the Government’s Construction Playbook reinforcing the use of the UK BIM Framework ahead."
Paul Shillcock, managing director of Operam Academy, added: "Operam continues to play a prominent role in supporting the UK Government to drive transformation within the construction industry and Operam Academy’s award-winning training continues to help people to understand information management, it's huge benefits and how businesses should be adopting it in all that they do.
"We are delighted to be working with Kier to build on it’s digital-led approach and help colleagues increase their capability and capacity to manage information more effectively."
