Willmott Dixon Interiors has been appointed to develop a new office and meeting space above the flagship library at Edmonton Green in north London. The scheme is part of a £2.6 million refurbishment project.
The works, procured through SCAPE form part of Enfield Council's Build the Change programme and will see space above Edmonton Green Library refurbished as a hub for all staff supporting housing and homelessness services.
The project will bring the office space in line with the public library, which was renovated in 2017 to create a contemporary, accessible space.
Enfield Council has chosen Willmott Dixon Interiors to deliver the transformation of existing space on the second floor of the two-storey building, above the library.
Willmott Dixon Interiors will carry out substantial alterations to the interior and exterior of the building, creating a large, open plan office space and flexible meeting spaces.
As part of these works a new mechanical plant will be installed on the roof, including a new air handling unit, condenser unit and air conditioning units. New partitions will be installed with glazed screens, movable partitions, as well as a new kitchen area, new toilets and shower areas, new MEP installation throughout, suspended acoustic baffles and raised access flooring. Externally, new large windows are being installed to the east elevation which will incorporate new steel wind posts and beams to create the increased structural openings.
Public services will continue to be available at the library on the ground floor.
