Construction firm Kier has completed the final phase of the Cryfield Student Residences at the University of Warwick.
The scheme has been delivered in three phases with Kier having constructed 14 buildings in total to provide 828 new student bedrooms in a mixture of townhouses and cluster blocks, as well as a new ‘village hall’ building containing offices, a laundrette, a post room and a student meeting areas.
Kier started works in March 2018 with phase 3 being handed over in in July 2021.
The project is situated within the University campus and is one of the largest single residential build projects the University has undertaken. Cryfield Student Residences is part of the continual growth and development of this world class teaching facility.
Richard Charman, operations director Kier Construction Eastern & Midlands, said: "We are really pleased to have completed and handed over Cryfield Student Residences to the University of Warwick. The final phase of the project was handed over to programme and is our third residential project for the university. The accommodation will offer students a modern and attractive university home. This scheme builds on Kier's excellent track record in the higher education and residential sector."
Wendy Roberts, director of staff & student accommodation at the University of Warwick, said: "The aim of Cryfield Village was to create a new benchmark for residential design on campus, that responded to student changing needs and offered variety of accommodation to allow students to live as a community. One of the key drivers was to deliver variety in design, let length and price so students with different requirements can live together.
"We are so proud to have a new neighbourhood of 1,000 students, with it’s own village hall, 6 and 12 bed townhouses, self-contained studios and elegant apartment buildings. We have a wonderful new addition to our campus accommodation provision is receiving extremely positive reviews from our students."
Phase 1 of Cryfield Village is a RIBA Award Winner for the West Midlands region and this project reinforces Kier’s position in the residential sector, having recently completed the refurbishment of Grade II-listed Park Hill Flats to create 356 bedrooms of student accommodation.
