Construction firm Kier is the only contractor to be appointed to all 12 Lots of Manchester Airports Group's (MAG) £700m Capital Works framework, which will initially run for five years, with the option to extend by an additional three years.
The framework is split into three disciplines: Civil Construction Works, New Build and Fit Out Construction Works and Refurbishment Works. The three disciplines are then divided into 12 Lots, based on value bands and location.
The framework is focused on delivering sustainable growth across MAG, while balancing the needs of its customers, passengers, employees and communities in which it works, and also maintaining the highest safety and security standards.
The agreement is one of a number that have been recently awarded by MAG, which owns and operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, to support its programme of infrastructure development. All three of MAG's airports will have access to Kiers framework over the initial period.
Liam Cummins, Group managing director at Kier Construction, said: "We look forward to being part of this framework, which, along with other aviation projects coming to market, will undoubtedly be critical in helping the aviation industry and the UK’s post-covid recovery. Aviation continues to be a key area of focus for us and being appointed to all Lots on the MAG framework will facilitate our growth in the sector.
"Collaborative working between our Infrastructure and Construction business streams allows us to provide a unique range of skills and expertise to this framework, including our vast experience of working in the sector and in highly regulated areas."
Kier has previously delivered a number of projects for clients in the aviation sector. This includes the £225m Luton DART guided mass passenger transit system which Kier is delivering in joint venture with VolkerFitzpatrick for London Luton Airport Ltd (LLAL). Upon completion it will link Luton Airport Parkway and the Luton Airport terminal. Additionally, Kier has delivered over £50m of work at London Gatwick Airport, which includes upgrades to security facilities and a multi-storey car park.
