AEI Acoustics Limited offer more than just advice on noise issues, we provide health and well-being benefits by ensuring that the latest guidance and requirements are met in a wide variety of developments, from new builds through to refurbishment and renovation.
Providing noise impact assessments for planning applications through to internal acoustic treatments, AEI Acoustics can help through all the stages of your project, to meet the rigorous requirements of acoustic standards.
One of the biggest challenges we face in the coming years is the effect that existing noise from sources such as road and rail traffic have on our health, with sleep deprivation being a key source, especially during summer periods where the requirement to ventilate our bedrooms usually means opening windows. In fact, noise in cities is one of three key environmental challenges highlighted in the recent report, Frontier 2022, published by the United Nations Environmental programme.
From June 2022, we see the subject of overheating become more relevant with the introduction of Approved Document O: Overheating introduced into Building Regulations as opposed to the more traditional route of it being a planning consideration, along with Approved Document F: Ventilation also being updated.
Other guidance is also available in the 'Acoustics, Ventilation and Overheating: Residential Design Guide' published jointly by the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) and Institute of Acoustics (IOA) and can be downloaded from the ANC website.
AEI Acoustics Director, Jim Hendley commented: "Helping people and companies understand that acoustics is an ever-present issue that can affect our health and well-being is paramount. Our purpose is to ensure that the acoustic environment not only meets the purpose it was designed for but also protects those within that same environment."
