A leading South West housing summit, set to take place this month, will a focus on sustainability, planning and procurement, and the opportunities and challenges each brings to the sector.
Leaders and professionals from the built environment are invited to attend the Constructing Excellence South West Housing Summit which is being held at Sandy Park, Exeter on Wednesday 18 May.
The session offers a unique opportunity for attendees to learn more about the Future Homes Hub and explore the importance of planning and procurement in the sector.
Andrew Carpenter, CEO of Constructing Excellence South West (CESW), said: "In order to make positive changes for the future, the sector needs to explore how and what it can do differently to successfully tackle the ongoing challenges it faces.
"Building quality homes, which deliver the highest standards of energy efficiency, is a great first step towards reducing the industry’s carbon impact. While, analysing other fundamental parts of the process, like construction planning and procurement on value, will help to identify the key opportunities for change.
"This event will look closely at how collaboration within the new homes sector can meet the environmental challenges that lie ahead, and also make improvements to planning and procurement across the industry."
As a member-led organisation charged with driving the change agenda in the built environment, Constructing Excellence South West facilitates major events like this to help encourage collaborative working throughout the industry.
The day includes an impressive agenda with an inspiring line-up of speakers including Christopher Gaze, Interim Programmes Director at Future Homes Hub, who will take to the stage to discuss the new compliance advice being issued on the interim Part L uplift, and the Future Homes Standard.
While, Frances Summers, Senior Planning Policy Officer at Dorset Council, will lead talks on planning in construction, followed by a round table feedback session.
The half-day event will conclude with an overview of procurement on value delivered by Matthew Goulcher, Managing Director at Levitt Bernstein.
Andrew adds: "There are some incredible opportunities within construction which will enable the industry to work more closely together.
"Demonstrating best practice at the Housing Summit means more specialist skills and ways of working can be shared more widely across the South West."
