Galliford Try has announced that it has agreed to acquire MCS Controls Systems Limited – a leading systems integrator to the industrial and utilities sectors, based in Coventry, West Midlands.
MCS Control Systems provides an excellent strategic fit with the Group's enlarged Environment business, bringing highly complementary capabilities into the Group and advancing its Sustainable Growth Strategy.
In particular, MCS provides additional competencies that complement those of the Lintott business, which was acquired as part of the nmcn water business in October 2021, accelerating the growth of Galliford Try capabilities in asset optimisation and capital maintenance.
Founded in 1976, MCS is well established within its markets, with a 45-year heritage, and clients include Scottish Water, Southern Water and Welsh Water. For the year ended 31 December 2020, being the last year for which MCS has published audited results, MCS generated revenue of £10.1m, and had net assets of £2.0m.
As part of the acquisition, circa 80 employees will join Galliford Try, including the senior management team of MCS.
Commenting on the acquisition, Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said: "I am delighted to welcome the employees, clients and suppliers of MCS to Galliford Try. The addition of MCS Control Systems' capabilities is complementary to the operations of our expanding Environment business, which and this is an excellent step in our Sustainable Growth Strategy which targets growth in adjacent and complementary markets.
"This is a fantastic opportunity, closely following the integration of nmcn water into our business, and again demonstrates the excellent position of the Group."
