Construction work has started to develop over 70 new homes in Staffordshire.
Countryside Partnerships has teamed up with Jigsaw Homes Group and Sigma Capital Group to build 74 new homes along the Ash Bank Road in Werrington.
Located five miles east of Stoke-on-Trent, along the south side of the A52, the ten-acre Ash Bank Heights development will provide 33 open-market homes for sale, 15 homes for affordable rent, 10 shared ownership homes and 16 homes for private rent.
Purchased from Homes England and granted planning permission in September 2022, Ash Bank Heights will benefit from a large flood attenuation area on the south side, providing sweeping views of the countryside beyond, a children's play area and a patchwork of green spaces. Additionally, a large parcel of land has been set aside as an ecological zone for native flora and fauna.
As well as new homes, the local community will benefit from a £192,553 contribution comprising:
• £139,128 for local sports pitches
• £46,425 towards community health care
• £7,000 to encourage more sustainable modes of transport through the local travel plan.
Offsite, road safety and sustainable transport improvements will be made on the Ash Bank Road, including a new pedestrian crossing and bus stop improvements.
Phil McHugh, Managing Director, West Midlands, Countryside Partnerships said: "We're proud to start working with our partners in providing much needed, high-quality new homes for Werrington, including 25 affordable homes. Furthermore, we will be bringing new amenities, such as children’s play area and an ecological area where wildlife can flourish, making Ash Bank Heights a place in which people and nature can thrive."
