Dudleys Consulting Engineers has been appointed to help deliver the first phase of a gateway scheme on Carl Fogarty Way.
The 9,050 sq ft project was designed by KPP Architects and consists of one flexible building with mezzanine floor options. When complete the building will be available to let as a whole or can be subdivided into smaller units.
The project is part of the wider £13m gateway scheme, which has been named after a local Super Bike racer. The scheme includes a new link road from M65 Junction 6 into Blackburn town centre.
Dudleys has already provided feasibility advice on the project, to support the planning application. They will now work alongside the main contractor for the scheme C & AJ Marshall Builders Ltd.
Dudleys recently opened a new office in Prestwich due to its growing portfolio of work in the North West area.
Commenting on the project, Peter Dixon, Director at Dudleys said: "We are pleased to secure this first phase project for such an important site that is allocated for significant employment potential. The proactive attitude of the local authority growth and development team has been greatly valued and we look forward to building that relationship as we grow further in the North West.
"The ground conditions for this brownfield site are poor, located in an area known for ground gas generation. We have monitored ground gas works levels in consultation with the Local Authority Environmental Health Department to prove that the risk was lower than initially anticipated and could readily be managed in a sustainable way without the needs for forced ventilation systems.
"The location of the site and the lack of access to existing drainage networks means that we have to undertake extensive consultation and dialogue with United Utilities, the Local Authority and Canal & Rivers Trust to consider numerous options for the disposal of surface and foul water discharge in the most efficient and sustainable manner."
