Speedy Hire has been named as a Financial Times Climate Leader for 2023.
With an EcoVadis silver rating and Carbon Leader status, Speedy Hire is positioned in the top 2% of businesses in the UK for decarbonisation readiness. The British business is also the first company in the hire sector to publicly sign up to science-based targets with the aim to achieve net zero by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Government's deadline. The company's 'Decade to Deliver' roadmap, outlining its sustainability journey within the next 10 years will be released in the coming weeks, presenting ambitious targets to reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50%, and Scope 3 emissions by 42% by 2030.
In addition to focusing on its network, fleet and logistics, Speedy Hire leads on product innovation through collaboration with its supply chain partners. Its ECO product range now accounts for over half of its revenues, reflecting the demand from customers for low carbon site solutions. Most recently, Speedy Hire worked with NiftyLift, to design and manufacture the world's first hydrogen-powered boom lift, as the company continues to bring innovative and commercially viable products to market that significantly reduce carbon emissions on-site and from the supply chain.
Amelia Woodley, ESG Director, Speedy Hire said: "Our 'Decade to Deliver' strategy places sustainability and responsibility at the centre of everything we do. To be recognised as a European Climate Leader by the Financial Times is testament to the tangible evidence of our progress to date and reinforces our public commitment to continue to lead the industry towards decarbonisation."
