Persimmon Homes Wessex has handed over 48 newly completed homes for public housing to GreenSquareAccord (GSA) at Badbury Park in Swindon.
29 of these will be for affordable rent and a further 19 for a shared ownership scheme, catering to a variety of local housing needs by providing one-bed apartments alongside two, three and four-bedroom houses.
The Badbury Park development includes a sports pitch, an equipped play area in addition to providing an ideal place for families to make their home. The development also features lush landscaping, maintained perimeter footpaths and space for allotments.
Badbury Park combines the tranquillity of country life with all the amenities of a large town available a short drive away. The development is located close to the M4 and has Coate Water Country Park, which boasts a miniature railway, children’s play area and rowing lake, on its doorstep.
Persimmon Homes Wessex Managing Director Julian Roper said: "Persimmon is determined to leave a positive community legacy in all the areas in which we develop, and one key element of our offering is the transfer of quality new homes to social housing providers.
"I am delighted that we have been able to once again do this at our Badbury Park development, and we hope this significant community contribution will help alleviate pressure on the local housing list.
"We are pleased to partner with GSA to deliver this increase in provision for the people and town of Swindon as our presence on this very popular site draws to a conclusion."
Corrina Johnson, New Business Manager at GSA added:
"We are proud to present our new affordable homes in the peaceful surroundings of Badbury Wick. By providing affordable homes for rent and purchase, we are meeting a variety of local housing needs in Swindon.
"Badbury Park is conveniently located just a few miles from Swindon and close to the M4, making it ideal for accessing Reading and Bristol."
Cllr Janine Howarth, Cabinet Member for Housing at Swindon Borough Council commented: "We are delighted to be in partnership and enabling Greensquare Accord to work with the developer in delivering quality affordable housing to those on the Council’s waiting list. The Council is committed to increasing the numbers of affordable housing as a key priority to support those unable to buy or rent privately."
Becky Cole, a GSA customer who has recently moved into a home in Badbury Park, also said:
"I am grateful for the opportunity to have a fresh start in a new property. I feel like I’m settling in really well and thoroughly enjoying making my new place feel like home."
