Finning Powers The National Ploughing Championships

Construction News Image
Finning Power Rental was chosen to power one of Europe's biggest agricultural events, the National Ploughing Championships, and installed a range of portable Cat® generators fuelled by HVO to ensure power stability throughout the three-day show, that was both reliable and offered a more sustainable choice to gas or diesel.

The event, which took place in Ratheniska, Ireland, was a key date in the agricultural calendar. The 2022 event attracted more than 275,000 visitors with 1,700 exhibitors showing their wares.

A key theme of this year's event was sustainability, so it was only fitting that Finning Power Rental, part of Finning UK & Ireland which is the world’s largest dealer of Cat machines and equipment, chose a range of gensets compatible to run on HVO as the power solution of choice.

In a significant stride towards a greener power solution, Finning dispatched an impressive fleet of over 27 machines in total to the event. This included various generators, each ranging from 30kVA’s to 1000kVA’s – all designed to run on HVO.

Paul Long, Sales Engineer Ireland, at Finning Power Rental, said: "The National Ploughing Championships is not merely a celebration of the agricultural industry, but it represented a profound commitment to pioneering sustainable practices.

"Because of this, the organisers wanted to ensure that the power provision for the event was delivered in as sustainably as possible. We therefore selected the most appropriate generators that would deliver the necessary power while using HVO as the primary fuel source. All Cat gensets are compatible to run with HVO – and match the same performance as conventional fuel sources of gas or diesel."

Suir Engineering, one of Europe's leading Electrical and Mechanical contracting companies, is the primary customer, choosing Finning to provide power to the event for the second consecutive year.

Finning had a commitment to the event that went beyond just power. They were also pivotal in pre-planning, logistics, the supply and delivery of generators, and provided hands-on engineering support throughout the event.

Alongside the state-of-the-art machinery displays and demonstrations, the National Ploughing Championships was represented by every sector of the food chain including producers and retailers.
