Bellway London has commenced work on a range of townhouses at a new development which forms part of the Barking Riverside regeneration scheme.
The homebuilder has begun construction work at Westbrooke Village, where it is delivering a collection of 167 new homes, featuring 124 apartments and 43 houses, on land off Crossness Road. The development borders Bellway London's Eastbrooke Village development.
Bellway London is set to build more than 1,000 new homes within the wider Barking Riverside project, which also includes the neighbouring Eastbrooke Village development and five phases at Fielders Quarter.
Barking Riverside is a major project that aims to provide more than 10,000 homes along with commercial and leisure space, new schools, public open space, riverside walks and five miles of cycle superhighway.
Dominic Griffiths, Head of Sales for Bellway London at Barking Riverside, said: "Westbrooke Village represents our latest phase of construction within the hugely ambitious project which is transforming the former Barking Power Station site into thousands of much-needed new homes in east London.
"Bellway has been involved in the regeneration project since it began and remains firmly committed to its future.
"Bellway London is playing a significant role in the creation of this brand-new neighbourhood. Our new apartments are providing some of the best-value new homes in London, with prices at Eastbrooke Village starting from just over £260,000. Due to the affordability of the properties at Barking Riverside, the housing market in this area has remained remarkably buoyant."
The townhouses being built at Westbrooke Village will be released onto the market early next year but homes at the neighbouring site of Eastbrooke Village, off Sackett Road, are on sale and some residents have already moved in.
Over at Fielders Quarter, which is located off Fielders Crescent, Bellway London has completed all 371 homes in the first two phases of construction, while work is progressing on the 172 homes in phase three, where some residents have been handed the keys to their new homes. Building work is also underway on phase four, which is known as Fielders Quarter West Circus and will comprise 229 homes.
