Powerday has announced it is to expand into south London, with the acquisition of a two-acre site in Croydon.
The site, previously owned by King Concrete, a leading supplier of ready mix and mix-on-site concrete, will become Powerday's eighth in London. Its strategic location bolsters the company’s position as the leading construction, demolition and waste management and recycling business in the Capital.
Powerday will install a weighbridge at the site with immediate effect while other improvement works take place, enabling it to accept commercial tipping waste from as early as the new year. All waste arriving at the site will be bulked and transferred to one of the company's state-of-the-art materials recycling facilities (MRFs) in Willesden or Enfield, ensuring it is diverted from landfill.
The site will play an important role in Powerday's future growth. With MRFs in west and north London, the company’s long-term plan is to develop another facility at Croydon to minimise road miles and enable it to increase the amount of waste it can accept from local construction, demolition and tipping businesses.
Edward Crossan, CEO of Powerday, commented: "The acquisition of Economic Skips in Bermondsey this September and the purchase of this site in Croydon, means that we have significantly expanded our services south of the river going into 2024. This will enable us to provide even more clients across London with a responsible waste management service that benefits the environment and helps them meet their sustainability targets.
"2024 will be an exciting year for Powerday and our two new sites will be pivotal to our growth strategy. We look forward to welcoming our new clients in south London and will continue to look for ways to improve the service we offer businesses across the Capital."
