EDF Energy has teamed up with Snugg to launch a 'Home Efficiency Hub' to help homeowners save cash and carbon.
The platform, developed with energy efficiency start-up Snugg, gives homeowners a personalised view of the best ways to make savings on their energy bills and reduce their homes' carbon emissions.
On entering their postcode and email, the Home Efficiency Hub provides homeowners with a personalised home efficiency plan, identifying areas where home improvements could be made – from air source heat pumps, solar PV panels and insulation, to cheaper options such as draught-proofing and installing energy efficient lightbulbs – each showing an estimated energy bill saving.
Recent research by EDF has identified that nearly a third (29%) of homeowners are worried about affording their energy bills this winter, with 43% of people feeling they have no control over their household energy spend.
Whilst 68% of homeowners are thinking about making their home more energy efficient to combat higher bills, nearly half (49%) of those surveyed agree that the overwhelming volume of conflicting advice about energy use makes them unsure what to believe.
The platform then simplifies the process of identifying EDF-approved or recommended installers to turn customers’ plans into reality and highlighting applicable grants or funding, such as ECO or the Great British Insulation Scheme, saving customers time and significantly reducing the upfront cost.
This is the latest step in EDF's collaboration with Snugg, a fast-growing start-up based in Edinburgh, who has helped develop EDF’s version of the innovative online service and also earlier this year added EDF’s network of trusted installers to its platform.
