Plans to build a new 66-home development in Moreton, Wirral, have been given the green light.
The proposals were submitted by national housebuilder Lovell Partnerships.
The decision continues its 15 years' experience of working on several Wirral Council-owned sites in Tranmere and Rockferry, delivering homes on brownfield sites in the Wirral and Merseyside Region.
The project involves the redevelopment of the former Fox Field School site off Douglas Drive, which closed in 2015 when a replacement facility was built in New Hey Road in Woodchurch.
Plans consist of a mix of terraced and semi-detached two and two-and-a-half storey affordable homes with two-, three-, and four-bedrooms. Each are available on a variety of tenures including shared ownership, affordable rent and Rent-to-Buy.
Tahreen Shad, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: "This is a site that has been left vacant for some time, since the school was demolished in 2018. Unlocking developments is what we do best and it is therefore a positive step forward to have secured planning and progress with this high-quality, multi affordable tenure development.
"We are committed to helping meet housing demand in the region by providing affordable homes for local people and bringing brownfield sites back into use. We expect to start on site in April and look forward to delivering a range of sustainable design measures included in our plans, such as high performing insulation and low energy fittings. We are also keen to prioritise a vibrant and cohesive green environment for residents."
Working in partnership with a strategic registered provider, this site is one of six areas designated for housing development in Moreton and Woodchurch under Wirral Council’s Emerging Local Plan.
