Almost £300,000 Developer Funding Secured In South Gloucestershire

Nearly £300,000 in developer funding has been secured for sports facilities and community spaces in South Gloucestershire.

Sports facilities and public open spaces across South Gloucestershire will be receiving a total of £295,899.47 for new provisions and improvements thanks to developer funding secured by South Gloucestershire Council.

Yate Town Council will receive £66,997.82 capital / £20,278.02 funding towards drainage improvements at Yate Common sports pitches.

South Gloucestershire Council will receive £37,513.90 capital / £62,231.20 funding towards wildlife enhancements at Mulgrove Farm and Parkway North Open Spaces.

Rangeworthy Parish Council will receive £24,521.48 capital / £7,421.82 revenue funding towards the redevelopment of the Rangeworthy Recreation Ground and on-site pavilion.

South Gloucestershire Council will receive £17,502.11 capital / £29,034.28 funding towards enhancement of the natural habitat at Yate Common and the River Frome, Yate.

Almondsbury Parish Council will receive £9,137.57 capital / £9,608.24 revenue funding towards the installation of outdoor gym equipment at The Scop, Almondsbury.

South Gloucestershire Council will receive £2,363.77 capital / £3,921.23 funding towards wildlife enhancements at Goose Green Nature Reserve, Yate.

Birds Community Allotment will receive £1,535.75 capital / £1,958.21 funding towards allotment improvements at Birds Community Allotments, Yate.

Patchway Town Council will receive £823.74 capital / £1,050.33 revenue funding towards construction of an education space at Pretoria Road Allotments, Patchway.

The money has been secured as Section 106 (S106) developer contributions from developments in Almondsbury, Bradley Stoke, Hambrook Lane, Rangeworthy and Yate.

Councillor Sean Rhodes, cabinet member for communities and local place at South Gloucestershire Council, said: "I'm very pleased that South Gloucestershire Council has negotiated this funding from developers to support local sports facilities and improve open spaces in the area.

"It's important that housing developers contribute towards the infrastructure needed to meet the needs of growing communities. These new facilities, public open space improvements and nature enhancements will help ensure even more people can be active and enjoy the outdoors in their local area."
