Following the release of the ‘Training in the Scaffolding Industry: Report 2024,’ National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) are analysing the detailed findings to understand the implications for the industry.

NASC and the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) are committed to leveraging these insights to implement key improvements in training, aiming to future-proof the sector and address critical needs.

This comprehensive survey, conducted earlier this year, received 103 responses from 97 organisations, offering a detailed snapshot of the scaffolding sector in Q1 2024. Key findings include nearly 2,000 job vacancies across key scaffold roles, with the highest demand for Part 2 scaffolders. The survey also highlighted regional disparities in training accessibility and varying levels of post-course satisfaction, with larger companies generally more satisfied. Respondents called for improvements in course content, including leadership skills and mental health awareness, and emphasised the need for more immediate feedback from training providers.

The survey's insights will guide NASC’s Training and Education Committee in addressing gaps and improving the training landscape. The NASC expresses gratitude to all participants and is committed to using these findings to shape the industry’s future. NASC Chief Executive Clive Dickin stated, “The membership has spoken and NASC is listening. It is without question that improvements are required and the CISRS board are supportive of this. The feedback from this survey is crucial for enhancing scaffolding training across the UK. ”

NASC and CISRS are committed to using these findings to drive meaningful change, ensuring that the scaffolding industry is well-equipped to meet future challenges and opportunities.
