Housing Company Gets Views Of BME Customers

The Gateshead Housing Company is set to ask its Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) customers across the borough how it can make services even more accessible.

The company, which manages over 22,000 homes across Gateshead, is asking for the views at a series of forums being held until the end of the year.

Customers from Gateshead’s diverse communities who attend any of the forums will get the chance to suggest ways for the company to make its many services even more accessible.

The latest forum is being held in The Blaydon Room at Gateshead Civic Centre on Monday 20 August from 1pm to 3pm.

Customers who attend the forums can suggest ways for the company to make its services even more accessible to communities across the borough.

Previously the forum has helped the company introduce a work placement scheme, contributed to information about accessing services for customers and also given its views on the HomeChoice letting scheme.

Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of The Gateshead Housing Company is hoping that as many customers as possible can attend the forthcoming forums.

He said: “The Gateshead Housing Company has a commitment to offering the best possible services to all of our tenants and leaseholders across the borough, regardless of their age, sex or background.

“By previously working with the BME forum we have been able to introduce a number of improvements to our services, especially in relation to how we let homes and provide information to our customers.”
