Robertson Group has made a series of appointments to support the company’s long-term expansion strategy within the construction sector.
Andy McPherson, Paul Joannou and Gerry O’Donnell have joined the Group’s Construction Executive as Operations Director, Commercial Director and Finance Director respectively.
The company’s construction operations cover five regions including, Northern, Eastern and Central Scotland, Tayside and North East England.
Robertson Group - which delivered a turnover up 22 percent at £194 million and a pre-tax profit up 93 percent at £14.1 million to the year end November 30, 2006 - has set in place an ambitious strategy to grow its construction operations. The Construction Executive has been established to support this aspect of the business.
Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Andy McPherson, brings 30 years of experience to the development, construction and services company. He comes to Robertson following senior roles with Balfour Beatty, Mowlem and Costain. Andy has spent most of his career working in Scotland, but has also spent some time in other parts of the UK and overseas in the Middle East and East Africa.
Paul Joannou also brings over 30 years experience in the construction industry to Robertson’s Construction Executive, having latterly held senior positions within the Morrison organisation for the last 17 years.
Gerry O’Donnell – a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants has a varied background, having worked with the NHS, Lothian Regional Council and East of Scotland Water. However he has also developed a depth of construction industry experience following spells with Mowlem, Babcock and Dawn.
Construction Executive Managing Director, Angus MacInnes, said: “We are currently increasing the size of our Construction Executive to oversee the operational delivery of five regional construction companies.
“The Construction Executive is a unique group of professionals – each of whom contributes a different skills-set to improving Robertson’s construction firms in order to bring consistency in terms of safety, delivery, business processes and customer focus, while supporting Robertson Group’s strategy in terms of growth.
“Each of these appointments will strengthen the Construction Executive by bringing in a broader experience which will be used to strengthen each of our regionalised construction businesses.”
