The maker of some of Scotland's funniest TV programmes is set to put a smile on the faces of the tenants at 53 Bothwell Street after it announced it was moving in.
The top independent broadcaster the Comedy Unit will relocate to the refurbished listed building in the heart of Glasgow's financial district from its former base at Glasgow Media Park in the west end of the city.
The Comedy Unit has taken 4,806 sq ft on the sixth floor of 53 Bothwell Street on a 10-year lease with a break option at five years. Rent has been set at £14.50 per sq ft per annum.
Stephen McKenna, of agent DTZ, said: "I'm sure news that the Comedy Unit is moving in to 53 Bothwell Street will bring a smile to tenants' faces.
"The building has been refurbished to a very high standard and accommodation on the sixth floor features raised access flooring, air conditioning and LG3 lighting.
"53 Bothwell Street is also located in a prime city centre location, close to all transport links, with modern space at a very competitive rent."
DTZ and Alan Watt Consulting acted jointly for landlord City Site Estates plc. Greg Dykes, of City Site Estates plc, said: ‘I’m delighted to have secured yet another excellent covenant in the building. The very nature of the Comedy Unit's business will undoubtedly add to a vibrant Bothwell Street.”
The Comedy Unit has produced shows including 'Rab C Nesbitt', 'Chewin' the Fat', 'Still Game', the' Karen Dunbar Show' and 'Only an Excuse?' The company also manages some of Scotland's top comedy talent including Tam Cowan, Tom Urie and Mari Hagarth.
Current tenants at 53 Bothwell Street include Maxwell MacLaurin, Angel Eye Media, Scottish Cultural Enterprise and Dogtooth Media.
