The completion of the merger last month of Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey, created the single largest house builder, that will build more than 1 in every 10 of all new private houses built in the Scottish market.
The new company, Taylor Wimpey, will retain both the Bryant Homes and the George Wimpey brands in Scotland.
The merger marks the beginning of a very exciting phase for the business in Scotland as new divisional Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey in Scotland, Andy Wyles comments: "We will retain the two current George Wimpey regional businesses located in Dunfermline and Paisley, as well as the existing Bryant regional office in Livingston. In addition, our George Wimpey office in Aberdeen will be strengthened and a new Bryant office will be established in the west of Scotland during the next few months.
"It is imperative that we have the best regional structure for our business, this will allow us to maximise the opportunities for growth throughout Scotland. It is our short term aim to build in excess of 2,500 houses each year, so it's essential that our infrastructure is in place to deliver this professionally and efficiently for both our share-holders and our customers.
"Bryant Homes and George Wimpey are two well recognised names in the housebuilding market. We will take the best aspects of each company and create a business that is ready to meet the modern day challenges facing the industry. The new company will have a wealth of resources available to tackle the issues around the barriers to growth in housing supply, affordability and sustainability."
News of the merger also signals a great package of benefits for Scottish customers of both George Wimpey and Bryant Homes as Mr Wyles adds: "Our customers have the added reassurance of buying their home from a Top 100 blue-chip company that's supported by a huge resource.
"We can offer a combined wealth of experience, plus the best processes and employees to deliver an excellent range of products and services in the most popular locations, ensuring our homes are the best choice for our customers."
