Miller Cromdale has announced that it has agreed a pre-let deal on its latest Aberdeen office development with international energy services company, the John Wood Group plc ('Wood Group').
The Wood Group will take 150,000 sq ft of the office development providing grade-A office accommodation for over 1,200 people.
The 210,000 sq ft development will incorporate a 60,000 sq ft speculative element and is expected to be completed by late Autumn 2009. The office building is being built by Miller Cromdale, a joint venture partnership between Miller Developments and Aberdeen-based developer Cromdale Ltd. Set on a two-acre riverside site close to the city centre, the building will be designed according to the Wood Group’s requirements to create a first class working environment for employees.
The new office building is part of the ongoing regeneration of the Aberdeen harbour area and is the fourth development undertaken in this section of the city by Miller Cromdale, including Bridge View, Admiral Court and Consort House, a 78,000 sq ft extension to the offices of oil services company, Petrofac.
Pamela Grant, Director, Miller Cromdale said: "We are delighted that the Wood Group has secured new office space within our latest development and we are confident of the 60,000 sq ft speculative element that we will undertake. This pre-let reinforces our confidence in the Aberdeen market and the need in the city for quality office space.
"The Aberdeen harbour area is undergoing an exciting and dynamic transformation. The major retail and leisure development of Union Square will extend as far as the harbour, with improved transport links helping to incorporate the port into the city centre. Our new office development is part of that whole process."
Martin Callan, Director, Cromdale Ltd, said: "The pre-let with the Wood Group is a major achievement. The company has secured space within one of the most significant office developments in the city and will enjoy first class, quality accommodation. We look forward to working closely with the City planners and Aberdeen Harbour Board over the coming months to bring this project to fruition."
Allister Langlands, Chief Executive of the Wood Group, said: "The riverside site we have selected is well served by public transport and we have also incorporated all the latest thinking in terms of design technology that helps us reduce our impact on the environment. The new office is an important step in consolidating our objective of being an Employer of Choice."
