A selection of top organisations have signed up to switch off with CIBSE's 100 Days of Carbon Cleaning Up Campaign, which helps to raise awareness of simple behavioural steps and managerial initiatives that can cut carbon emissions from buildings.
The 100 Days of Carbon Clean Up Campaign is run by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and sponsored by E.ON, one of the UK's leading power and gas companies. The 100 days campaign aims to help participants realise the carbon saving potential of their workplace, encouraging staff behavioural changes and managerial initiatives to reduce carbon emissions from their buildings.
BBC Wales, Brent Cross Shopping Centre and Bolton Wanderers Football Club are all taking action over the 100 days, along with London’s Natural History Museum, National Portrait Gallery and National Gallery. Transport for London are once again showing their support for the campaign, rolling the initiative out with a network of environmental champions.
The consultancy sector is also well represented by firms including Faber Maunsell, ARUP, White Young Green, CB Richard Ellis and Capita Symonds. With sustainability a key issue, architectural, engineering and construction firms can benefit from engaging with the campaign and highlighting the role they play in building for a sustainable future.
CIBSE president John Armstrong, said: "We are pleased with the positive response to the campaign, numbers are high and participants seem motivated and enthusiastic."
The first 100 participants in the campaign who return their CIBSE TM22 Energy Assessment form, the measurement tool used for the campaign, at the end of the 100 days will receive a free Display Energy Certificate (DEC).
