RDA Hosts Low Carbon Innovation Exchange

Reducing carbon emission and tackling climate change take centre stage in Bristol on March 11 with the region's first Low Carbon Innovation Exchange.

Sponsored by the South West of England Regional Development Agency (RDA), the Exchange is part of a UK-wide series of events that brings together top executives to share best practice on reducing carbon emissions.

Many of the region's leading businesses will be taking part, along with several local authorities and other organisations.

The all-day event includes seminars, workshops and discussion groups about achieving a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy in the South West. Topics include resource efficiency, renewable energy and low carbon technologies, waste management and recycling.

Jonet Wadlock, Head of Environment at the South West RDA, said: "The South West has the potential to lead the UK in cutting carbon emissions by forging an economy where innovation in new sources of energy and carbon reduction techniques encourages investment and growth.

"We need to break the link between increased consumption and a degraded environment and the Low Carbon Innovation Exchange is an excellent forum for sharing ideas and promoting best practice about how you can achieve growth within environmental limits."

The RDA is taking a lead role in moving towards a low carbon economy with significant investment in renewable energy and low carbon technologies like biomass, wave and tidal power, support for business resource efficiency and studies into cutting waste and finding new markets for recycled materials.

The Low Carbon Innovation Exchange for the South West takes place on Tuesday, March 11 at the Marriott Hotel in Bristol City Centre.
