Jamie was selected by regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward, to create a piece of unique artwork on the hoardings that will surround the site of the former Nelson Mandela building, now that demolition work has been completed.
Development plans for the site include a four-star hotel and office complex, and work is expected to start on site during winter 2008/09.

In the interim, people will enjoy an almost mirror image of the immediate surroundings of the hoardings, reflecting the present and the future of Sheffield.
Jan Anderson, Executive Director, Environment for Yorkshire Forward said: "This unique piece of public art has been designed to fit in with the environment in the vicinity of the development site. The aim is to ensure that the presence of this site amongst the newly finished buildings and public space is not envisaged as a 'blot on the landscape', but a welcome addition to the Sheffield city centre."
Simon White, Assistant Director of Regeneration for Creative Sheffield, also said: "This is a very important site – one that will create a lasting impression on people arriving into the city. To incorporate the work of an artist of Jamie’s calibre reflects the site's importance and gives the city a unique opportunity to demonstrate its creativity once again."
