The housing plan also sets out key actions for improving the city's housing, including improving homes in all tenures to the decent homes standard, reducing the environmental impact of house-building and of existing homes and improving the quality of services for tenants and residents.

The council will work with its partners to secure the maximum investment in housing for the city with the aim of increasing the amount of new affordable homes provided each year and making better use of existing stock by bringing more empty homes back into use.

Councillor John Lines, Cabinet Member for Housing said: "Planning for the future of housing is crucial and ensures that we deliver the right type of homes to meet the needs of our changing communities. We are continuing our commitment to deliver decent, affordable homes to meet the needs of Birmingham's diverse communities, secure growth and deliver vibrant urban villages. With the support of the City Housing Partnership I am confident that the plan will deliver real positive outcomes for Birmingham people."
