Halton Receives Grant To Deliver New Housing

Halton will get more about £250,000 Government money to help speed up the delivery of new housing and ensure that suitable land is available.

The Housing and Planning Delivery Grant will provide a direct incentive for councils to ensure that new homes are built where they are needed.

It is an additional top up to mainstream funding and councils can choose how to spend it locally.

The measures are part of a new update on progress to delivering more homes, helping first time buyers, supporting existing home owners and assisting the industry which is currently facing tougher conditions.


Halton Borough Council's Executive Board Member for Regeneration, Cllr Rob Pohill, said: "Halton has again been awarded a Housing and Planning Delivery Grant, this time for £246,862.

"A fundamental aspect of the HPDG award is having the ability to deliver through, a well articulated development plan/core strategies housing allocation.

"Halton's current plan demonstrate an availability of land which will maintain Haltons housing market and enable a bouyant and sustained future.

"Halton will continue to use its granted monies to ensure that housing growth and the borough's housing needs are assured into the future."
