Construction and Management Consultants, Turner & Townsend have announced they will be opening new offices in Leeds adjacent to its Head Office to house its growing team of professionals.
Turner & Townsend has been working in Leeds for 40 years and in 1992 relocated its Head Office to the impressive 16th Century Low Hall buildings in Horsforth, Leeds.
Low hall is a Grade II listed building with a remarkable history as the residence of the important Stanhope family. It is recorded that Low Hall played a part in the English Civil War when Royalists, who housed 200 horses in its barns, invaded it.
Turner & Townsend has transformed the historic barns into bright, exciting modern office spaces to accommodate its growing team of talented professionals.
The restored listed barns have been sympathetically renovated featuring original wooden beams and exposed stone walls.
Turner & Townsend has named its new offices 'The Stanhope Buildings' after the family, who resided there for over 400 years.
The Stanhope Buildings and Low hall will house over 250 staff and reinforces our commitment to Leeds and the region building their current long term and valued client base.
Specific challenges of transforming an historic listed property included ensuring that the façade of the building remained largely unaltered and the new roof slates had to be light enough for the old timber beams to support the roof.
Tim Wray, Chairman of Turner & Townsend said: "We are proud of our beautiful new offices, which provide us with a fantastic Head Office base that reflects Turner & Townsend's global success and the strength of our longstanding client relationships in the Yorkshire region."
