An expanding Evesham house builder has signed up with trade body the House Builders Association (HBA) to support its continued growth.
Benavon Ltd has built residential properties across Worcestershire since 1992 and recently completed Evesham's Goodwin Gardens scheme.
The business is set to capitalise on the booming social housing market by working alongside clients like the Rooftop Housing Group. Managing Director Russell Sumner is targeting a record £2 million turnover in 2009.
The HBA is a specialist division of the National Federation of Builders (NFB), the UK's principal trade body representing over 1,500 builders and contractors across England and Wales.
Mr Sumner said: "We had been members of the House Builders Federation for a number of years but we began to feel like they were no longer in fighting in our corner.
"The HBA and the NFB have a strong track record for the focus of its policy work, which isn't afraid to challenge perceived wisdom on the big issues and strongly supports the advancement of smaller house builders like ourselves."
Andrew Percy, Regional Director for the NFB, said: "House builders are enduring one of their most challenging periods in recent memory but firms like Benavon are bucking the trend.
"More and more SMEs recognise the value of the HBA as a partner for growth, especially during these difficult times, and it remains the only official representative of small and medium sized house builders (SMEs) in the construction industry.
"We lobby local, national and European government on a range of issues and are frequently consulted on the future of industry legislation. Having a strong voice in the corridors of power means we can help sustain positive trading conditions for members."
