The move, voted for by tenants, and supported by Salford City Council, secures a £900 million investment programme for the next 30 years that will bring improvements to homes, estates and services.

Work will begin immediately with a programme of new heating systems, replacement doors and windows, and a range of other home improvements. Over £200 million will be spent on the area in the next five years.
Tim Doyle, Chief Executive for City West Housing: "Our investment is about more than bricks and mortar. We will be working in partnership with local communities and investing in projects designed to address local issues such as dealing with anti-social behaviour and improving facilities on estates."
The transfer is a key part of Salford City Council's 'Decent Homes Investment Strategy' which aims to ensure there is a long-term and robust solution in delivering homes that meet new Government standards in all parts of the city.
