The national tool and equipment hire company, HSS Hire, has been awarded ISO 14001 certification, the international standard qualifying an organisation's Environmental Management System (EMS).
Head of Health and Safety at HSS, David Wilson commented: "We were already consistently working to most of the required standards so it's great that this has been recognised and officially confirmed by the British Standards Association (BSI).
"Receiving IS014001 status for our Head Office and Supercentre locations shows our clients, suppliers and industry peers that we are serious about health, safety and environmental protection.
"We are now planning to extend the accreditation to cover all HSS locations."
ISO14001 is the world's most recognised international environmental standard and applies to environmental aspects that an organisation has overall control for and those it can influence.
Areas covered by ISO14001 include a fully-encompassing performance and life-cycle assessment, auditing of our business for continual improvements as well as compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
David concluded: "Industry-recognised accreditation is very important to us and we are delighted with the accolade, but we are driven by a sincere commitment to meeting our responsibilities to our staff, our clients and our suppliers. The official accreditation is just the feather in the cap."
