Lovell has been chosen by Flagship Housing Group to build three new developments of affordable homes in Norfolk worth £5.15 million.
The company is set to start work in June on all three developments, which will provide 48 new homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.
At Bussey Road, Norwich, Lovell will carry out a £3.2 million project to build 34 homes - a mixture of 18 two-bedroom flats, eight two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom houses. To deliver high levels of energy efficiency, the new homes will feature heat recovery ventilation systems, while the flats will also incorporate photovoltaic technology which converts sunlight to electricity.
In addition, Lovell will also create a new children's play area close to the development. Work on the new homes is set to be completed in May 2010.
At Magpie Road, Norwich, Lovell will undertake a £1.4 million scheme to build 11 three-, four- and five-bedroom houses on a former brownfield site in Norwich city centre. All of the houses will meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system which measures the environmental performance of new housing. Sustainable features will include heat recovery ventilation units, rainwater harvesting and air source heat pumps to provide heating and hot water.
Due to the site's proximity to the city's wall, archaeologists will carry out an archaeological investigation before construction work gets under way. The new housing is due to be completed in July 2010.
Lovell has also been selected by Flagship Housing Group for a £550,000 scheme to build seven new affordable homes in the village of Ashill in Norfolk. The development of two- and three-bedroom houses will be built to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The new housing at Ashill will be built using modern methods of construction including thin joint blockwork - a system which incorporates high quality, fast-setting mortar and significantly reduces construction time. Work on the project is due to be completed in January 2010.
