The newly refurbished Bicester Leisure Centre will be officially opened on 13 June by Cherwell District Council Chairman, Councillor Mrs Diana Edwards, along with 11-times paralympic gold medallist Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson.
The opening ceremony will kick off a fun-filled weekend of free activities which means Bicester residents can try out the new facilities on offer.
Cherwell District Council has invested £4.3m in the new-look centre, which benefits from a new ten-pin bowling alley, high quality fitness studio, a dedicated young people's gym, crèche, new changing rooms, sauna, spa, and steam room, an improved café, better car parking, and a lot more.
Meanwhile, Kidlington and Gosford Leisure Centre has seen £3.6m invested in a new sports hall, changing rooms, new swimming pool roof with upgraded insulation, rebuilt reception, crèche, function room, new ground floor café seating area and swimming pool viewing, and more parking spaces.
Cherwell District Council's Portfolio Holder for Environment, Recreation and Health, Councillor George Reynolds, commented: "The council is committed to providing top-notch leisure facilities for residents. A safe and healthy Cherwell is one of the council's priorities and these modernisations go a long way to ensuring that.
"The investment we've made at these centres, across the district, shows that we believe residents should have the best when it comes to sports and leisure provision. Opening these modernised centres is the start of half a dozen major improvements to leisure facilities in the district due to be made available to residents this year."
