Appeal Victory For Norwich City Council

An appeal against planning enforcement notices issued by Norwich City Council has been dismissed.

A report issued by the Planning Inspectorate has upheld the council's decision to issue enforcement notices against company CA Trott (Plant Hire).

The two notices related to a piece of land opposite 153-167 Holt Road, Norwich.

They were for an unauthorised change of use from paddocks to builders' storage, and for constructing a hardstanding - a hard surface on the land - without planning permission.

Planning Inspector Stephen Brown agreed with the council's assessment that the use and the hardstanding were unauthorised, and dismissed the appeals against the notices.

Both are required to cease and be removed within a period of six months for the use and eight months for the hardstanding.

Norwich City Council Executive Member for sustainable city development Brian Morrey said: "I'm pleased with this decision - the city council's stance on this issue has been vindicated.

"This decision will protect the rights of residents in Holt Road to enjoy the area they live in."
