The finishing touches are being completed on a £1.4 million development of new, eco-friendly properties for North Lincolnshire Homes in a rural area of the region.
The nine homes in Hibaldstow are the first ever new builds to be commissioned by the housing association - and it is now looking to allocate them to local residents.
The homes consist of four two-bedroomed bungalows for older tenants (Meadow Court) - and four three-bedroomed houses and one four bedroomed-house (The Nookings).
The properties have been built to the Government-set Sustainable Homes Code Level 3, achieving this level by being highly insulated with modern design specifications.
There are also solar panels on the roof which will collect heat from the sun and provide much of the energy needed to heat the property for free.
Steve Hepworth, Director of Housing Services for North Lincolnshire Homes, said the new homes, being built by Clayfield Construction Ltd and part funded by NLH and the Housing Corporation (now the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)), show that the quality of social housing is reaching new levels.
He said: "We are delighted with these new homes. They show that we have reached a new era in terms of social housing provision. They are modern, attractive, eco-friendly and economically efficient. They will help towards satisfying Government targets for North Lincolnshire Council that more rural housing must be built.
"We are asking people to come forward to get their names down for one of the new properties which will be available by mid August."
The homes are the first of a raft of new affordable homes being built by North Lincolnshire Homes across the region.
