Based in North Yorkshire, Barrett Kent is a family run business and has been trading for over ten years.
The firm sources specialist materials and textures fixtures and fittings, provides drawings, deals with all the relevant authorities for planning permissions and building regulations.
Barratt Kent are specialists in basement and cellar conversions, can convert all or part of your garage to living space, can offer a wide range of building and renovation services, including extensions, restoration and renovation projects and can carry out a wide range of remedial treatments.
Mr and Mrs Taylor from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, have embarked on a basement conversion. With two small children and another on the way, their 3 bed semi was rapidly running out of space. With a wet dark and damp four room basement which was used only for storage they decided to embarked on their ambitious plan.
Mrs Taylor said: "I don't know why we hadn't thought about it before. We have been looking to move to a bigger place for some time now, but with the property market as it is we couldn't find anything that suited our needs within our budget - and in any case the stamp duty alone runs in to thousands. So we decided to go for a basement conversion, this will give us 2 more bedrooms and en suite bathroom as well as a small home office space. The total cost of the project was £55,000 (including vat) but if you compare what we have now to what we would have got for the same money moving home - we have got ourselves a bargain."
Barrett Kent have noticed an increase in enquiries for basement conversions and are looking optimistically into the future.
