Site Manager For Danaher & Walsh Is Nominated For Prestigious Award

Construction News Image
Leicester based civil engineering and plant hire firm, Danaher & Walsh has entered one of its Site Managers for the 'site manager of the year award' in recognition of his outstanding leadership of the company's prestigious Framework Contract in Rutland, Northants, Peterborough and Bedfordshire.

Dave Burkill who has been the Framework Manager on the £1.5m per annum contract for the past 4 years, has been entered into the Civil Engineering Contractors Association Midlands Awards. The awards aim is to raise the profile of civil engineering and promote excellence in project management.

Dave has successfully led the on-site team, which has been working on the 5 year project to provide an integral emergency response service for small sewers in the Anglican Water Sewerage area and maintain a 2 hour call-out attendance, as well as being on call 24/7, 52 weeks per annum. The project also included planned maintenance of the sewers and ancillary equipment.

Dave's career started with Danaher & Walsh as a machine driver and via his determination and ambition, together with Danaher & Walsh's belief in investing in their employees, Dave started on the civil side of the business.

Russell Fitzjohn, General Manager of Danaher & Walsh said: "I had my eye on Dave for quite a while because I saw a potential leader and site manager in him. When he approached me all those years ago and shared his ambition for a more challenging role, we were very pleased and were full steam ahead to fast-track his in-house and on-the-job training. Dave has been an integral part of the smooth-running of the Framework Contract for Anglican Water – we are very proud of him and his team’s achievement and it is fitting and deserved that we nominate him for this prestigious award."

Danaher & Walsh's Site Managers have enjoyed success in past CECA Midlands Awards, with two other of their Site Managers being finalists in previous years, so it is hoped that Dave Burkill's nomination in 2009 will turn into another deserved accolade for Danaher & Walsh.

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Midlands Awards take place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, NEC, Birmingham on 27 November 2009 following judging by a panel of serving members of the CECA Midlands Council.
